Start Something Big

Did you have a mentor growing up? Maybe it was your 4th grade teacher or the neighbor that let you help when he worked on his car. Do you remember how they started your interest in sports or music? Ellis County has over 50 children waiting for a mentor to help them get started.

Mentoring isn’t just fun—it’s rewarding. When a child has a Big Brother or Big Sister, a lifetime of opportunities open. Children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are less likely to skip class, use alcohol or drugs, resort to violence, or skip school. They also gain confidence and get along better with their parents and/or siblings.

You don't have to make over your life to make a difference in the life of a child. No experience is necessary to make a lifelong friend. Start something BIG today! There are several programs for you to choose from: community-based, school-based, faith-based, outdoor mentoring, and our new Business Bigs program in which a business encourages their employees to mentor during the workday.

It’s simple—call Big Brothers Big Sisters today and they’ll do the rest. A few hours a week could start something BIG in the life of a child.
