Join Us for Give Fest 2024

What is Give Fest?

Give Fest is not just an event; it's a powerful 24-hour celebration of giving that unites Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties. Created by the Heartland Community Foundation, this initiative aims to elevate philanthropy in our region and mobilize our community to contribute to the life-changing work of local nonprofits. This year, on October 10, 2024, we invite you to join us in shining a spotlight on local giving and infusing our communities with a renewed sense of energy around generosity.

Mid-October is the perfect time to kick off the giving season, right before the holiday rush. With an Oktoberfest twist, Give Fest brings a playful spirit that celebrates the cultural heritage of our area. Donations made on this special day will be matched dollar for dollar or proportionately from a match pool of $150,000, with $50,000 set aside for each county. Plus, exciting prizes await participants throughout the day!

Donors can learn more about each participating nonprofit and make donations at HeartlandGiveFest.org.

When is Give Fest?

Mark your calendars! Give Fest begins at midnight on October 10 and runs until 11:59 p.m. The online giving platform will be open from October 4-10, allowing you to contribute at your convenience. On the big day, join us for special in-person events in each county, filled with food, music, games, and prizes. Don’t miss the opportunity to support your favorite organizations!

How Does It Work?

Giving is simple! Donors can choose to support organizations in person at Give Fest events on October 10, by mail, or online anytime from October 4-10. Your contributions will be added to the principal of the selected organization’s endowed fund at the Heartland Community Foundation. Best of all, donor gifts will be matched up to 100% from the $150,000 matching pool.

There’s no minimum donation amount, making it easy for everyone to contribute. Just make checks payable to the Heartland Community Foundation, and send mailed donations by October 8 to ensure they arrive on time. Donors should include a donation form to direct their funds to the chosen nonprofit(s).

Who Will Be at the Event?

Give Fest 2024 promises to be an unforgettable experience! Three concurrent celebrations will take place on October 10, with the bulk of the festivities happening between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. but anyone is welcome to come between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Join us at The Strand, 1102 Main St., in Hays for Ellis County’s celebration. Expect delicious food, lively music, fun games, and plenty of chances to win prizes—all infused with the spirit of Oktoberfest!

Double Your Impact: A Story of Change

One organization participating in Give Fest is the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), which is currently advocating for a young boy and his mother who have experienced the devastating effects of domestic violence. As they navigate their healing journey, CAC advocates provide essential support not just for the child, but also for his mother, who is working to rebuild her life after fleeing an abusive situation.

Thanks to the CAC's assistance, this mother has accessed support groups and therapy, enabling her to process her trauma and better support her child. The impact has been remarkable; the boy, who once exhibited negative behaviors, is now thriving, excited to attend school, and able to express his emotions more freely.

This transformation is just one example of the critical work being done by local nonprofits. By participating in Give Fest, you can double the success stories like this one, ensuring that more families receive the support they need.
