Janette Meis is the Communication Specialist for the Office of the President at Fort Hays State University. She first came to Hays in 1991 to attend college and quickly fell in love with the community. Deeply committed to service and engagement, Janette is actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Hays Kiwanis Club and Women Who Lead. She is also a Chamber Ambassador and shares her creativity as a volunteer holiday crafter at The Arc of Central Plains Thrift Shop. As an empty nester, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Jerry, teaching him new tricks.

 

Before joining Fort Hays State University, Janette dedicated over 20 years to nonprofit work, driven by her passion for serving others. She began as the Youth Services Coordinator at Northwest Kansas Family Shelter, now known as Options, before becoming the Executive Director of CASA of the High Plains. She later served as the State Director of the Kansas CASA Association, advocating for children and families across the state. Her time in the nonprofit sector was deeply meaningful, reinforcing her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
