October is National Domestic Violence Month, a time to raise awareness about domestic violence and to honor the survivors who have found their way to safety and empowerment. This month, we’d like to share the inspiring story of "Becca," a courageous individual whose journey showcases the transformative power of support from Options Domestic & Sexual Violence Services.

Becca’s Journey

When Becca first reached out for help, she was facing overwhelming challenges. Struggling to find stability in her life, she knew she needed support. Options provided a safe haven where Becca could begin to rebuild her life. With the compassionate assistance of shelter staff, she was able to focus on her goals and aspirations.

During her stay, Becca received not only a roof over her head but also vital resources that helped her develop essential life skills. The staff at Options guided her through the process of securing full-time employment, which allowed her to gain financial independence. With determination and the right support, Becca also found stable housing and was able to purchase a car, paving the way for her newfound freedom.

Building Connections

One of the most significant aspects of Becca’s journey was the support she received in maintaining a connection with her children. Options worked closely with Becca throughout her court proceedings, ensuring she had the tools and resources necessary to continue fostering her family bonds. Today, Becca and her children are looking forward to building a safer and brighter future together in Hays.
